I Love Fayetteville

Labor Day weekend, that means three-day weekend for most people, so to take advantage of the extended time off I went home to Fayetteville to hang out with my friends and to see my dad.

I left early Saturday morning and made it there in (personal) record time – three hours, twenty minutes. Getting into town, I headed over to Trip's house and visited with him and Stephanie. Shortly after that, Trip and I went to Todd and Sarah's new house and helped them move the remaining things into their basement and house. After disposing of Todd's newly broken dryer, we three went to eat at Hugo's – one of Fayetteville's best local restaurants. From there, Jones went home, so Todd and I just hung out for a while before heading over to Stephanie's parent's house for "Brews and Shoes" (beer, burgers and horseshoes). We threw some shoes, drank some beers and listened to the Razorbacks crushing New Mexico in their football contest. With the game being over, we all headed to JR's to see The American Princes play (they were much better than when I saw them perform in KC several months ago).

Sunday morning I woke up earlier than Jones and Steph, imagine that, so I went to Daylight Donuts to get us some breakfast (which included a Volcano for me and several chocolate donuts for them). At 1:30, Bryan, Jonathon, Todd, Sarah, Trip, Paul and I went and watched "Garden State," which, if you haven't seen yet, you need to – it's an amazing film by first-time Writer/Director Zach Braff (star of "Scrubs"). After the movie, we went and ate at another Fayetteville staple, La Huerta. Later, Todd and I went to Wal-Mart to get some house items and then ran to my dad's house to get some beer, since you can't buy beer in Arkansas on Sundays. That night, we cooked out some burgers (and a Boca Burger for Sarah) and just chilled. This morning, I went to see my dad's new law office in Tontitown and then we ate some breakfast at the good ol' Waffle House.

It was a fun, fun, fun trip and I can't wait to see everyone in Fayetteville again in two weeks, when I head down for Aaron and Bev's engagement party. Should be more fun!

Garden State does in fact rule Seth. Good Call.

I just hope that he doesn't have "Kevin Smith Syndrome," where he pretty much spent a lot of time and thought on this one film and then can't really follow up. I really liked it and think it shows a lot of promise, but I suppose time will only tell.

Yes K.S.S. does seem to be a problem. It would be sweet if he could continue to just make good films though. Hopefully he wont be directing Daredevil 2 or anything anytime soon.
